Business Communication III (WIKO III)

Who is this course for?

This module is aimed exclusively at students on the master level, who study at the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Statistics, and who wish to take this course as part of their chosen alternative compulsory module or elective. 
 

Pre-requisites

  • Language level B2/1 according to GERS/CEFR (specialised language business)
  • Successful completion of the course Business Communication II

  • B2/2 (specialised language/business)

 

 

 

Aims

  • Further developing both listening and reading comprehension by using a variety of authentic and didactic material.
  • Presentations, speech exercises, and role-plays should help students to become comfortable with (spontaneous) speech in the world of work
  • Become adapt at dealing with current topics of the italophone socio-economic context. 

 

 

 

Topics

  • Inter-cultural communication, inter-cultural negotiatons: norms of protocol, the language of negotiation, and behaviour during negotiations in Italy
  • Company simulations
  • Regional and cultural studies of the countries of the target language: economic geography, sociology, administration, culture
  • Techniques for writing academic essays, commenting on current economic topics
  • Presentation techniques

 

 

Methods

  • Participatory, communicative and action-oriented teaching style
  • Focus on work in small groups, role-play, case studies, simulations and presentations
